About the Artist

I'm Monica Basile, and I believe that beauty is medicine for the soul. I create art as a practice of presence and healing.

For more than 28 years, I've held space as a midwife, Reiki practitioner, and bodyworker. My hands have always been how I connect, whether I'm pressing ink onto paper, carving into linoleum, or offering healing touch. Art and healing have never been separate for me. I see them as different expressions of the same intention: to help people remember their wholeness.

My botanical illustrations are meditations on our interconnectedness with the earth. Drawing on my ongoing herbal studies and lifelong relationship with plants, I create art that invites you to slow down and notice the sacred in the ordinary.

Roots and Blossoms is an extension of all I hold dear: beauty, plant wisdom, self-compassion, and the healing that comes from connecting with nature and with ourselves.

I can't wait to share this monthly practice with you!

What makes this special

You are invited to live with the art. The prints are meant to be displayed, to create an altar of botanical wisdom in your space, not on a screen.

You are invited to engage with the art. The booklet is an invitation to get to know each month’s plant through creative practice, to put down your phone and pick up your colored pencils.

The Value of Handmade

Every linocut is hand-carved and printed by me in my studio. Each one is an original and no two are exactly alike. If you were to collect these prints individually, a 4×6 piece would be $20-25. As a subscriber, you receive one every month, along with a thoughtfully designed interactive booklet, all for $16.

In a world of endless scrolling and digital overwhelm, there's something deeply nourishing about holding a piece of artwork in your hands and living with it in your space. Real art is a powerful form of human connection, increasingly valuable in a disembodied digital world.

Q&A

Your first package will ship during the first week of the month following your subscription, provided you subscribe by the 25th of the month. For example, if you join by January 25, your first package ships in early February. Please note that your mail will arrive in an envelope and will not include tracking. But you will receive an email from me when your mail is heading your way!
Yes, you can cancel your monthly subscription and return at any time. When you subscribe, you will receive information on managing your subscription. Yearly subscriptions represent a commitment for a full year and cannot be refunded.
Yes! The coloring booklets are designed for anyone who wants to slow down and create, regardless of artistic experience or age. There's no "right" way to color them, and all affirmations included are age-appropriate.
