Creative Magic
An 8-week journey through The Artist’s Way and beyond
If you've been meaning to do The Artist's Way, this is your invitation.
The Artist’s Way is more than a widely-beloved, bestselling book by Julia Cameron. It is a deeply effective, playful process of self-discovery.
It invites us to explore our creativity, uncover what truly brings us joy, and break through the fears and blocks keeping us from our authentic expression.
Maybe this book has been on your shelf for years. Maybe you started it once, or several times, and never finished. Or maybe you’ve never heard of it, but you’re curious!
If your creative spark has taken a back seat, and you’re ready to rekindle it, this experience is for you.

A safe space for connection & discovery
Creative Magic is an eight-week journey through the core teachings of The Artist’s Way, sprinkled with insights from Pam Grossman's Magic Maker, informed by my background as an educator, working artist, mindfulness instructor, energy healer, and experienced space holder.
Each week during our time together, we will gather to support each other, learn, and reflect. Every class includes:
The power of witnessing and being witnessed: Roundtable check-ins on our daily and weekly practices and exercises, breakthroughs, and synchronicities.
Compassionate guidance: Experienced support for working with the essential tools (including daily morning pages and weekly artist date practices), with modifications designed to fit the life you’re living.
Embodied integration: Centering mind-body practices to facilitate deep levels of loving self-attunement around each week’s teachings. You won't get this anywhere else.
“Monica provides a safe and nurturing container for your deepest soul's work. She gently ushers you through the process and encourages your journey with such grace and compassion. You’ll feel inspired by her wisdom and spiritual midwifery. I cannot recommend this course enough - it has been life changing for me.”

Meet your guide
Monica Basile, PhD is an artist and designer, energy healer, intuitive guide, and educator with a background as a midwife and bodyworker.
She is an experienced facilitator and space-holder who has journeyed through The Artist’s Way in group settings many times, beginning in 1995.
Monica offers a heart-centered approach to the Artist’s Way process, creating space for mindfulness, authenticity, and shared wisdom.
Please note that while this process facilitates self-discovery, Monica is not a licensed mental health professional, and this course does not constitute therapy.
“I’m not an artist! Is this for me?”
YES.
Creativity is not a talent – it’s an inherent part of being alive.
This class is for anyone who yearns for a more inspired, inspiring life:
• Artists of any kind (visual artists, writers, musicians, dancers, etc.)
• People with creative hobbies or who aspire to have creative hobbies
• Those who would never dare describe themselves as artistic or creative
If you simply want to (re)discover a spark of joy in life, or recover a part of yourself that got lost along the way, you are welcome here. This is for you!
Q&A
-
A copy of The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron (any edition is fine!)
A journal or notebook (does not need to be fancy!)
-
Weekly: About 2 hours (1 hour to read the chapter for the week and do 1-2 exercises, and 1 hour for your weekly artist date)
Daily: About 30 minutes to do the morning pages practice.
Busy life? Same! I first did the Artist’s Way as a single mom of a toddler working multiple jobs. I’m here to help you make these materials work with your life! -
No, this is not an art instruction course. There may be weeks during which you'll be invited to share something you've created as part our exercises for the week if you wish, but sharing is never mandatory.
-
That's totally fine! It's inevitable that not everyone will make it to each class. Recordings of the teachings for the week will be available (though recordings of student check-ins will not). You will still be able to read the week's chapter on your own time and do the exercises if your time allows. Releasing perfectionism is a big part of this process, so don't worry too much if there's something you need to miss.
-
This is SO common! While it is possible to read the book and do the exercises as a solo experience, it tends to become difficult at some point to keep going. In my experience, and that of many others, the key to making it through the entire journey is committing to doing it with a group.

The Artist's Way does reflect a spiritual perspective and a belief in the divine, and it does use the word God. The author invites the reader to interpret this in any way one wishes, including substituting the phrase "Good Orderly Direction."
It is absolutely possible for someone with a non-spiritual perspective to benefit from these materials -- but if textual references to spirituality, prayer, and faith are highly triggering, this may not be the best program for you.
Monica's teaching style is inclusive and trauma-informed, and she welcomes people of all perspectives on matters of faith, religion, and spirituality.
